Mathematics Mastery Primary

A proven impact on pupil attainment

Our Mathematics Mastery Primary programme helps children feel more at ease with maths by developing knowledge of underlying concepts. This approach is improving children’s progress.

The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) found that students in schools adopting the Mathematics Mastery programme made more progress than those at a similar level in other schools. In fact, research shows that after just one year on the programme, students made an average of one months’ additional progress.

However, we believe the best source of feedback about our programmes comes from teachers. With experience on putting the curriculum into practice and close contact with children, teachers can also identify wider impacts, such as a boost in confidence and subject enjoyment. And the feedback we receive is overwhelmingly positive. As a result of the programme:

• 100% of teachers in Ark Schools believe that oracy has improved
• 95% of Mastery Leads agree that consistency in teaching and learning has improved
• 95% of Mastery Leads believe teachers' subject knowledge has improved
• 95% of Mastery Leads agree that the curriculum has improved
• 95% of Mastery Leads agree that students have a deeper understanding of the subject
