We are proud and humbled to be able to offer Mathematics Mastery Primary at a significantly subsidised price. This is thanks to the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) who, through the Department for Education’s Accelerator Fund, are supporting even more schools across England to access the programme.
Of course, our impact speaks for itself. The EEF’s evaluation found that pupils on the programme made an average of two months’ additional progress. Our partner schools see positive impact on pupils’ progress and mathematical thinking, and teachers’ subject confidence:
Over the past few years, we have become increasingly interested in gathering and sharing qualitative data, so we can better understand the impact our programme has on teachers and pupils in classrooms.
Aldermoor Farm in Coventry is a large primary school based in an area of high deprivation, with large numbers of EAL and SEND pupils. The school had been looking for a programme that would give all their pupils a chance to enjoy and engage in maths lessons and support their teachers to develop the confidence and subject expertise to help all pupils achieve. After less than six months working with us, they are already seeing positive changes:
"Mathematics Mastery has already transformed maths at Aldermoor Farm. For the first time in our history, we have a good percentage of children in year two getting to greater depth."
Harriet Deeley, Deputy Headteacher
We are committed to extending this impact so that all pupils can achieve in maths, whatever their starting points. With the EEF subsidy, schools join for two years and receive support from a dedicated subject expert to help them achieve and sustain excellence.
To achieve powerful teaching that changes lives, teachers have told us they need to have strong subject knowledge, the best evidence-based pedagogies, rigorous assessment and effective planning, all working together. Mathematics Mastery Primary includes:
And the difference this makes is clear:
“Since joining Mathematics Mastery we’ve seen a significant change in the children’s understanding and enjoyment of maths and strengthened subject knowledge and confidence among staff.”
Claire Pettman, Assistant Headteacher, St Stephen’s Catholic Primary School
The best-practice planning tools and comprehensive lesson resources provide everything a school needs to deliver the programme successfully. From day one, staff will have access and support (through training and CPD) to deliver consistent, impactful, engaging and pedagogically strong maths lessons, sequenced to support pupils’ development of fluency, mathematical talk, reasoning and problem-solving.
Mathematical talk is something our partners tell us they’re excited to see develop rapidly in their pupils:
“In my many years of teaching Reception I’d never experienced, until now, children using phrases like ‘greater than’ or ‘less than’ so comfortably.”
Joel Baldwin, Maths lead, Paddox Primary School
